Validation: the online Testbed
Validation is the process by which xml files are tested for compliance against the schematron rules (and ultimately the Directive). Essentially, If the directive asks for specific information to be provided, there is a rule that checks whether the ESPDRequest includes this and determines whether the document is (compliant) or not. There are two options that member state developers can use to validate their xml documents:
Using the online validation facility, the “testbed”, can used by developers to upload and check their documents.
The Testbed online service is made available by the Directorate-General for Digital Services (DIGIT), and the validation files that uploaded xml files are checked against are provided by the ESPD team. Each ESPD version requires a distinct set of validation files for both the ESPD Request and ESPD Response. Updating the files is performed as part of a version release.
Note: The testbed link is also in the validation GitHub folder readme.md.
